Don't get me wrong, I'd really like to hang with you and get to fly more. It's just... I'd say like riding a bike but I've. Never actually done that.

My point was you may have to learn to adjust your landing speeds so you don't shatter your ankles on impact.

[ she rolls her eyes. then... pauses. clearly thinking. ]

You know, it would probably easier if we figured out how much force is needed to break one of my bones and just calculated the fastest I can safely land.

It varies from bone to bone. It takes about 4,000 newtons of force to break the typical human femur. It's safer to err on the side of caution than to assume you're any more durable than the average human.

And ankles aren't as durable as femurs. [ there's a long bit of silence where kara stares off into the distance, mouthing words to herself as she does some calculations. ] My best bet is probably going to be just stopping before I hit the ground.

[ hmmm... she takes a look around. eyes how high the ceiling is. ]

Where's your mattress?

[ Yeah, probably. Damian turns around to pull it out of the semi-walled off room. ]

[ while he does that, kara flies up towards the ceiling and hangs there. ]

I think I'll still be able to do it pretty easily, but better to have something to catch me, just in case.

[ He drags it into the center of the room, frowning up at her. ]

Jason's already cornered the market on recklessness.

Do you think he's compensating for something?

[ that's not actually a comment about his dick. grayson or otherwise. kara figures that much recklessness has to have some sort of root cause other than "adrenaline junkie".

but before damian can answer, kara let's herself fall. not as fast as she can fly, but fast enough. she's concentrating so hard on making sure she gets this right--and she does--that it triggers her other powers. all the light in the room gets sucked out of the bulbs and into her hands, startling her just enough that she drops those last few inches with a startled eep! ]

I think he's struggling to find a way out of my father's shadow.

[ Well, that's - that's one way to startle Damian. It's an immediate flame on reaction, he stiffens and whips his head around for a potential threat - visible only because with the rest of his body covered in flame-retardant fabric, the fire sprouts from the top of his head. ]
