No. This is me ensuring you don't get killed and we're able to maximize our impact on the city. I don't care if you want to team up, I don't want to deal with you stumbling on to any of my routes and making a mess.

[ not getting murdered is a good plan. fortunately, bobbi has no intention of murdering anyone. she's there, lifting a hand in a wave that's a little more awkward than bobbi morse ever would be. katelin's not nearly as good as bobbi at any of this, though. ]

[ she runs a hand through too-short hair. ]

So, I have questions. [ he seems like the type to abhor small talk, so she continues a moment later. ] What parts of the body did you cut? How deep?

Along here. [ He draws his finger across the patch of chest. ] Went as far as bone. I couldn't see any mechanical components or anything otherwise abnormal. It could be within the bone or under it.

[covertness]

I assume whoever you cut open wasn't using their powers at the time, were they?

[ katelin at least is opposed to unsafe experiments, but -- now that it's already happened, she wants to find out all that she can. ]

[batricide]

No. But an empathy bond was activated. There was nothing to see.

[covertness]

Could be that it's something organic, if you saw no mechanical components.

[ something on a cellular level? ]

Did you take any samples?

[batricide]

No. I should have, but we were working with limited resources. [ As in, what barely passed for medical equipment and a kitchen table. ] I would say the chest is a moot point and is just a benign biolumiescence triggered as a side-effect of our abilities, but I've heard it has the ability to manifest objects.

[covertness]

I've heard that, too. Haven't seen it myself, yet.

[ a beat. ] But even if it's just bioluminescence, I'd want to know why it's there, how it's reacting to our powers. I know I've never glowed before.

[batricide]

And I didn't catch fire before. Unusual physical changes aren't uncommon to metahuman abilities manifesting. [ SOme make absolutely no sense, but. Well. ] Whatever it is, I suspect that we won't find the answers in the chest cavity of a living subject.
